About
My name is Juanita. I'm a 50-year-old wife and a mother of two adult children. I am blessed. I also have metastatic breast cancer. I was initially diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer in November 2016. Within weeks, treatment started - a double mastectomy followed by chemo and then radiation. By June 2017, treatments were complete and the waiting began. It sounds dramatic, and for me, it was. I cried when I came to the end of chemo. As difficult as it was to deal with the side effects, at least I felt like I was actively fighting while I was receiving those infusions. Fast forward to November 2017: the cancer is back. It has spread to my lungs and I soon found out that it is also in my brain and my bones. So now, the fight continues. I am a fairly private person (ok, a very private person), but something about writing is therapeutic for me. If my thoughts and experiences can help anyone going through a hard time, then it's worth it to open myself up.
